You are not the only one. There are millions of Tamil Film music lovers who enjoy talking about their favourite genre of music. I am one of them and I started this channel to indulge in my passion for music while also interacting with the rest of the netizens that share my passion.
In the early 1990's, when satellite channels were just starting up operations in Chennai, the fledgeling channels used to have many music-related "Game Shows" in their bid to engage with and woo the audience. I was fortunate to be a part of some of these shows, both as a participant and as a co-anchor. 'Antakshari' type shows were quite common then and it was a happy half hour to watch such shows. Alas, the channels have grown much bigger than those days and see no need to engage with such real entertainment and choose to just show us soap-operas that grind the same batter again and again (அரைச்ச மாவையே அரைக்கறாங்க). One of the popular channels in Tamil Nadu has a music show in name that is more like a circus-act. The anchors crack silly jokes and goof around the set while the participants are always 'serial' actors who are more conscious of their make-up than the songs they sing.
While internet and especially Youtube abounds with reviews and talk shows on movies, there is hardly any programming around film music other than some interviews with singers. Sensing that this gap needs filling in, the thought for Tami Nostalgia Channel was born, focussing on delivering content around the topic of Tamil Film Songs. The channel's flagship show is the weekly "Live Tamil Music Quiz" that brings creative challenges to the participants as well as the audience. This is a first ever presentation of Live tamil song quiz game show online. The show usually features 3 contestants per episode and has three creatively crafted rounds of questions. The Live audience participate enthusiastically in the show and get to answer in real-time along with the participants. Of course, the participants are blocked from being able to see the live audience answers and only the show hostess can. The audience also stands a chance to win a prize for question that is posed to them to answer directly (the type of prize changes with change in sponsors).
